G - G - GAH - GLASS!

Who would have thought getting 2 sheets of glass cut and having the edges polished would end up being such a big hassle. 2 weeks of um'ing and ah'ing from the company, excuses after excuses and just out right incompetence.

First the quote they gave was well under any of company I got quotes from ($44), I knew this could not be right seeing as the next cheapest quote was $150. After querying the quote I was met with the response "Yes, I think it's right, I will check with *insert name here* (sorry can't remember the name he said) and call you if it is wrong". While rolling my eyes I just nodded and proceeded to ask how long it would take to complete the order, this was met with a simple and quick "One to two days". "Alright, go ahead. I'll place the order now" Figured even if his quote was wrong, it'd be for a single piece and not for 2, so even doubling the quote would still be $50+ cheaper than anyone else.

Two (working) days past and I had not heard from him, "Cool!" I thought, the quote must have been right. Then in the late afternoon of the third day I received a phone call from them, at first I thought it would be telling me my glass was ready. I was wrong, it was a call to tell me the original quote was wrong and was for a single piece only, the new quote was now $98. "Ok, so when can I expect my glass?" by this stage I was annoyed but kept it to myself. Again I was met with "One to two days".

I waited 2 days and didn't hear anything from them so I called in there (as it's on my way home from work) asking if my glass was ready. "No, not yet, one to two days." was the answer I got, now I was beginning to get angry and I'm sure my tone showed that. "Right Oh!" I snapped as I rolled my eyes and just turned around and walked out. It was Friday and I was hoping for the glass for the weekend, it had been a week since I placed the order.

On Monday, I finished work a little earlier than planned so I again stopped by the company and asked. This time it was a younger guy manning the office, his reply was "Oh let me check the suppliers confirmation of delivery time" off he wandered and was in the factory for like 5 mins. When he came back he said "Supplier said it'll be here tomorrow", Thoroughly annoyed I just walked out with no response what-so-ever.

Wednesday came around (didn't have time Tuesday to pick it up so didn't bother asking about it) and I still had not heard from them, so I gave them a call. Once again someone different answered the phone (a lady), I proceeded to ask and she said she'd have to ask. I sat and waited a few minutes and when she returned I was met with the answer "Oh the supplier made a mistake, now it'll be another 1 to 2 days"... "OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!" is the response she got from me, I was fuming and I just hung up after that. By now I was ready to just take the next quote, even for $50 more it was worth it for the less hassle as the other company could cut and polish it while I waited.

Not really having time to get into anywhere to get it cut on Wednesday I just went home. Then today (was Thursday when I wrote this but my laptop died) while I was at work, early in the afternoon I get a text message saying my glass was ready. Not even a phone call, a damn text message... But anyway, I picked up my glass today...

Upon getting home I inspected the glass:

Right size: Check! (thank fuck for that)

Right edges been polished: Che.. Hmm wait... What have they done here!

Oh for fucks sake, they had polished all sides, ok not a big deal and probably better anyway. I only asked for 2 sides and bottom to be polished, the top did not need it and was pointlessto pay for. So I got tops polished for free, alright, that's cool. But now that I sound ungrateful I'll explain.

The quality of polished edges was so bad it was hard to even see if they had been polished. I was amazed at what I saw, such uneven and messy polishing. So right now I am highly pissed off but I can not be bothered dealing with them to get it fixed, it will just have to do.

This has been the worst experience I have ever had ordering something from a company and I will never do business there again, NOT EVER!. So anyone even considering using Classic Glass in Jandakot (Western Australia) I would have to highly advise going somewhere else if you want good service and a decent product.

I had planned on doing another update this weekend as I have now pretty much finished my build. It just needs to aired out before I put the substrate in and prepare everything to transfer my snake over. But my laptop died Friday night, I have only just got it fixed (system failed) so I'm finishing off this post and I'll try do another some time in the week.
